Emma Taylor (Children & Families Pastor) and Ann Scouse (Under 5s Pastor) oversee Children's Ministry at St Mary's. Details of our various groups are below.
St Mary's Toddlers
We meet in the Church Hall on Tuesday
afternoons during term-time, from 1.30pm until 3pm. There are plenty of toys for the children to play with plus teas, coffees and biscuits for mums, dads and carers and squash and biscuits for the children. There is a musical slot in each session, which is always great fun! For more information contact Ann Scouse on 01202 870332.
Join us for our Christian fun-morning for pre-school children and their parents/carers. We have lots of fun with crafts, music and other activities and refreshments are provided. We meet from 9.15am - 10.45am in the Hall on the following dates this term:
Sparklers (0-3yrs) and Rockets (3-5 yrs: preschool - reception)
There is a weekly crèche which takes place in the Beacon Cafe during the 10.45am service. This is monitored by a dedicated team but parents are welcome to stay with their children if they prefer. The service can be followed via an audio/video link. Children between 6 and 14yrs go out to their groups shortly after the main service.
Comets (5-8 yrs: school years 1,2 & 3)
The main focus is to introduce Jesus using games, music, craft and story-telling as well as discovery and creative activities. Comets meets together in Venue 1 during the 10.45am service. From time to time we all get together for a Saturday morning workshop when we have a lively time of art, games and - well, just FUN!
Ignite (8 – 11yrs: school years 4-6)
and Dynamo (12 - 13yrs: school years 7-9)
Ignite and Dynamo meet in the hall during our 10.45am service. Christianity is explored through discussion, games, craft and drama. All the activities are designed to help the children build their faith and trust in God as they face day to day challenges. Their confidence is developed as they are encouraged to take part regularly in the main church services. Any Ignite or Dynamo members who play a musical instrument or enjoy singing, are encouraged to be part of the Children’s Band. The band leads the worship in our two morning services approximately once a term.
G- Force – An afterschool club for children in school years 4,5 and 6
G-Force is an after-school club which runs on Thursday evenings from 5:45 to 7pm during term time. We have lots of fun exploring Christianity through games, crafts, films, music, drama and other activities. There are also snacks and a tuck shop. There is no charge for attending the club but you will need pocket money for the tuck shop.
