Children & Young People

Mary Tyler is our Children and Families Worker appointed in Sept 2007. She co-ordinates and oversees all we do with the 0-11s. For more details or any information regarding any of the activities at St Mary’s you can contact Mary by Tel 01202 861516 or Email maryjane.tyler@binterent.com

St Mary’s Toddlers

We meet in the hall every Tuesday between 2pm and 3:30pm during term time. The children have plenty of space to use up all their energy in a safe environment. Activities include free play, a weekly music session where we sing and play instruments, craft and we end each term with a little party! The group is for 0-4yrs plus carers.

Sunday Groups

Crèche (0-3yrs)

There is a weekly crèche which takes place in the Choir Vestry during the 9:15 and 11am services. This is monitored by a dedicated team but parents are welcome to stay with their children if they prefer. The service can be followed via an audio/video link.

Children between 3 and 14yrs go out to their groups shortly after the main service begins.

Scramblers and Climbers (3-7yrs)

The children learn about Jesus and the Bible through appropriate presentation using storytelling, games, craft and music.
From time to time, we all get together for a Saturday morning workshop when we have a lively time of art, games and - well, just FUN!

Explorers (7 – 11yrs, school years 3, 4, 5 and 6)

Christianity is explored through discussion, games, craft and drama. All the activities are designed to help the children build their faith and trust in God as they face day to day challenges. Their confidence is developed as they are encouraged to take part regularly in the main church services.
Explorers, who play a musical instrument or enjoy singing, are encouraged to be part of the Children’s Band. The band leads the worship in our two morning services approximately once a term.

G- Force – An afterschool club for children in school years 4,5 and 6

We have also recently launched a new after school club – G Force! This runs on Thursday evenings from 5:45 to 7pm during term time. This is a Christian club where we find out about God in a really fun way with lots of games and activities. For more information contact Mary.
