Pastoral Care Course
In September we will be running another “Caring God’s way” course in Pastoral Care, designed by CWR – Selwyn Hughes.
The Course is focused around three concepts that are central to Christian caring.
The first is the importance of coming alongside someone to give them support and strength at a time of particular need in their life: The ministry of encouragement.
The second stage, following on from support and encouragement is to bring hope and direction to them in the light of grace and truth: The ministry of exhortation, which means to build someone up.
The third stage is, having supported and encouraged someone, and having sought to build them up with hope and direction in the light of grace and truth we endeavour to bring a new perspective to their life circumstances from God’s word: The ministry of enlightenment.
The Course is presented in three parts, a video presentation, group discussion and personal study with a study guide.
If all that sounds a bit technical, those who have done the course will simply say,” it has helped me love as Jesus loves”. As well as:
- Becoming a more caring person
- developing a closer relationship with the Lord
- growing in Biblical understanding of caring
- gaining a closer relationships with other members of the church
- developing new skills and insights
- learning more about myself
We have fun, fellowship and most importantly, become fruitful in our ministry of loving others, “by which all men will know that we are His disciples”
