MIDWEEK mini-Service
The mid-week mini-Service is for
- ANYONE who finds it hard to attend Sunday church services, for whatever reason
- ANYONE who would enjoy a short service in an informal setting, but with a printed order of service and traditional hymns.
- ANYONE who would appreciate a chance to meet in a small group and chat (over tea or coffee and cakes!)
We (Fred and Rosemary Flanagan) hold the service in our lounge, at 21, Sherborne Drive, on the
1st Tuesday of each month
starting 10:30am (Service approx 40 mins) followed by tea or coffee, cakes and chat if you can stay (finishing around 12.00)
The service includes: a welcome and prayer of confession with responses, prayers for people in need, the Lord’s prayer, a short Bible reading and ‘Thought for the day’ and three traditional hymns (sung to piano accompaniment). Requests for prayer for friends, family and personal needs are discussed before the service and included in the prayers.
We are helped regularly by Alison Hartley and Lynne Morris, and Dick Luther and members of the St. Mary’s congregation have been along to give us our ‘Thought for the day’.
Anyone is welcome to come along (particularly older folk and those on their own). If transport is a problem, do give us a ring, on Tel: 874063 or contact the parish office and we will try and help.
Sherborne Drive is quite near St. Mary’s church. From the church, cross Ringwood Road (into Dudsbury Avenue), take the first right (into Dorset Avenue) and then first left (into Sherborne Drive).
Each month, Alison prepares small cards for everyone present, with a picture and a Bible verse from the service. If you are unable to come to the service but would like to receive one of these and a copy of our service sheet, do give us a ring — we already give out quite a number of cards and service sheets after each service - or why not just come along?!
